Here goes the story of how
a guild named Neverland was built.
There was a man with a
tall and well-built body named Dean whose age was 21 years old that time. He
lost his parents at such young age and his sisters were separated away from him
when a civil war occurred years ago.
This young man loved
adventure, and was a great warrior. He participated in the war, but stopped
fighting when he lost everything.
“Deeeeaaan!!!”
Well, maybe not
everything.
Dean had a friend named
Leon whom he met at the war. Leon was the one who took care of Dean when he was
once injured badly and could barely move in an isolated forest. This young man
is as young as Dean and he was a wizard, majoring in healing and earth magic.
He was a bit taller and skinnier than Dean—of course, since wizards don’t
really train their muscles—and had a very dorky personality. A little bit too
talkative, but Dean thanked him for that since he didn’t feel really lonely
anymore when they met. What made them automatically a best friend was that Leon
also lost his family in the war.
“You know, Dean? If you
are feeling lonely, we should really find you a new family.” The blue-eyed man
commented.
The other man chuckled. “A
new family? What are you gonna do?” He asked.
Now that Leon had gotten
Dean’s attention, he scooted closer to him and explained excitedly. “Have you
ever heard about a guild?” A question which was answered with a nod. “Let’s
make one!” Leon added, causing Dean to furrow his eyebrows.
“You do know it’s not that
easy to build a guild, right? Hey, that rhymes.”
“I know, but we’ll do it
slowly! Imagine a place where you have fighters to take an adventure with you,
Dean! To fight all the bad things and uphold the rights!”
It sounds so cheesy, but a
lonely guy with lots of dreams to achieve got into a deep thought upon hearing
it.
So there they were,
starting with a small “business” when the civil war ended. They took quests
such as arresting robbers, solved a bit mysteries, and many more. With the
money they earned, they bought a small house.
But things were getting
pretty tiring as there were only two members at that time.
One day when they were on
a quest of finding a robber, they were surprised by the sight of the culprit,
dead in the hands of a woman.
She was not just a woman,
of course. By looking at her appearance, it was obvious that she was a warrior.
“W-what happened…?” Leon
asked carefully.
The lady looked at both of
them for a while. “We got into a fight, I had no other choice.” She answered
lightly as if it was no big thing.
“This woman is dangerous.
But I bet she’s strong and is a great warrior. But no, she’s dangerous. I
better tell Leon about th—“
“Hey, do you want to join
our guild?”
“Leon!”
The dark-brown-haired man
signed Dean to be quiet for a while.
“Guild?” She asked.
“Yeah, and… Oh, pardon my
manner. My name is Leon, and this is my friend, Dean.” Leon introduced both of
them.
The lady remained silent
for a while, as if she was investigating the two men in front of her, judging
whether they were dangerous or not and whether she should tell her name or not.
And the result was…
“Alexa. Nice to meet you.”
She replied shortly.
“Alexa. Nice name!” Leon
said. “Sooo… The two of us here is in the middle of building a guild, and
actually this guy you just killed is one of the quests we received. Are you
interested in joining us?”
Dean had a hard time in
resisting the urge to slap his friend’s head.
An unexpected response was
given to them by the young lady who was currently 18 years old. “Count me in.”
She said, the tip of her lips curved, showing a slight smile.
Alexa—called Lexa or Lex
by Dean and Leon—had never really explained why she decided to join Neverland,
and the two founding fathers had no courage to ask either, so the reason
remained a secret.
As time passed by, the
three of them became best friends and the cold-looking Alexa slowly opened up
and Dean was glad they found her. Besides being a great friend, she was also a
very great woman warrior. The three of them were more like a family rather than
friends; they cared of each other like brothers and sister.
“How come your eye-color
is like that, Dean?” Alexa asked one day.
“Oh, this?” Dean replied
as he pointed at his eyes. Green and red. Yes, if one was asked to point out
one unique characteristic of Dean, everyone would say his eye-color. His left
eye was green while his right eye was red. “It seemed scientifically
impossible, but I’m not wearing any colored lenses. My great-grandfather also
had two eye colors, but it was red and blue. My mom had green eyes—like you—so
maybe that’s how this happened.” He explained.
“Believe me, Lex, you
don’t want to see him staring with just his red eye. Run for your life!” Leon
joked as he stood up from his seat and walked away, leaving Dean and Lex
laughing.
“So…!” Dean started
another conversation. “We—I mean the three of us—have been together for quiet
some times, but we still don’t know your background.” He gathered his courage
to ask.
Alexa still had a friendly
expression thanks to Leon’s joke, but her smile was bitter. “Well… If you don’t
mind, I heard the two of you lost your family?” She asked back.
“Yeap, that’s how we
became a family, technically.”
“That’s how we became a
family too, Dean.” She said as she smiled, stood up from her seat, and pecked
Dean’s cheek like every other night. “Good night.”
Dean took a few seconds to
process what his sister was trying to say, but once he knew, he smiled. “Good
night, Lex.”
Day by day passed, days
turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and Neverland was a week away from
having its first birthday.
“Guys, do you know what we
should do for Neverland’s first birthday??” Dean exclaimed enthusiastically.
“Yes, get-a-new-member!”
Leon replied sarcastically. As soon as he finished the sentence, he sneezed.
“See, I’m getting sick from exhaustion. We need help.” He said.
Dean looked at Alexa for
opinion. The only girl in the group shrugged her shoulders. “I guess he has a
point.” She said.
“A point? I have the main
idea, Lex!” Leon protested.
“Alright, alright. If
you’re really sick, you should be resting now, don’t you think?”
Dean approached the both
of them. “Well, I guess it won’t be a pain to get a new member. Where should we
searc—“
A knock on the guild’s
door stopped Dean from talking. He walked towards the door and opened it to see
a young man standing in front of him.
“Can I help you?” Dean
asked politely.
The guest stood still for
a few seconds, creating an awkward silent between the two of them (while inside
the house, Leon was busy sneezing and Alexa was busy searching for medicine).
But then the young man’s
expression lit and he exhaled before he spoke up, “Oh. My. God. Dean, if I’m
not mistaken?” He asked excitedly. Dean could only nod a few times in doubt.
“Oh. My. God. Dean, it’s you. It’s you!”
“Uhh… Yes, it’s me. So,
can I help you?” Dean tried to change the topic. He felt embarrassed being
talked of.
“It should be me who
asked! Can I help you… Dean?” The young man said with such glittering eyes that
Dean couldn’t help but smiled. “Oh, I’m sorry, where is my manner. My name is
Dominic. It’s a pleasure to meet you! Literally!” He said as he offered Dean his
hand which the person took gladly.
“Okay, Dominic. I really
appreciate that someone actually knows me, but I kind of don’t understand your
intention. Would you mind explaining to me?” Dean asked.
“Of course! I will explain
everything to you!”
Right then, Dominic’s
glance caught the present of another man in the house and he couldn’t keep his
happiness away.
“Oh my God, it’s Leon! I
can’t believe I’m seeing a great wizard myself!” He exclaimed enthusiastically.
“Dean, who’s come to visit us?” Alexa who was
previously in the kitchen showed up.
“Kkyaa! Alexa, you’re Alexa, right?!”
Dominic—once again—exclaimed as he grabbed both of Alexa’s hands and jumped up
and down.
Alexa who was originally uncomfortable being
around strangers couldn’t help but smile. “Yes, I am.”
“It’s really nice to see
you guys! Hi Leon, hi Alexa, my name is Dominic!” He said, introducing himself
once again. Leon at the back could only wave his hands.
“So what is your intention again?” Dean tried
to remind the over-excited boy.
“Oh, yeah! Can I join your guild?” He
requested.
The other three of them looked at each other
with a smile.
Long story short, Dominic was a “gift” for
their first anniversary. They were all happy about it, for the more, the
merrier.
“Where do you live, Dominic?” Alexa asked when
they were having a dinner together.
“I used to live in a village not far from
here.” Dominic said while smiling.
“Used to?” Dean asked.
“Yeah, I decided to move away and luckily I
have you guys. Thank you so much for letting me in!” He answered.
“No problem, young man. We’re more than happy
to have a new member here. I’m dying from doing one quest to another all day,
y’know.” Leon poured his heart out, causing the other three to laugh.
Things were getting warmer
each day with Dominic’s presence but things were heated when another person—a
young lady named Gina—requested to join with the Neverland guild a few weeks
after Dominic knocked their little guild’s door.
Leon stepped into the living room and sat
beside Alexa who was reading a book.
“Hey, Alexa.” He called, as calm as he could
be that moment.
“Yes? Can I help you Le—oh
my God what happens to your hand?!” She gasped when she saw a very visible
blister on her friend’s forearm.
Leon cringed. “It doesn’t
really hurt, you don’t have to be worried.”
“Who did that?” Alexa
asked, still concerned.
“The new girl, Gina.” Leon answered in a
whisper. “Well, she’s new so I can understand that. She accidentally hit me
with her magic—which is fire, I warn you—but I told her it was okay and left
her to practice by herself while I took care of this wound. But apparently I
don’t know how to wrap bandages properly since you know, I heal with magic but
I can’t heal myself. So, help?” He explained.
Alexa chuckled and stood up from her seat,
taking Leon’s unwounded arm and motioned him to stand up. “Come on, let’s treat
your wound in the kitchen.”
Gina was a pretty unpredictable girl; she
could be calm and silent for one time, and then she would turn talkative at
another time. They weren’t surprised to know that Gina’s magic element—which
all wizards have—was fire, since after a pretty long time of knowing each
other, the last thing you want to do is to make her angry.
So that made
three-men-two-women in the little family, and the founder of the guild planned
to not limit the amount of family members.
Because in Neverland,
everything had no end.
